Questions

What should an award certificate say?
Who it’s for, the award’s name, what it was for and when, with your organisation’s name and a signature. One line under the name is enough: “is awarded First Place in the 2026 Regional Finals.”
Can I add a gold seal?
Most of these have one: a medal, a laurel or a starburst. In Word it’s a picture you can delete, or press Customise to pick another seal and colour.
What paper should I print it on?
A heavy matt or silk card, 200–300 gsm, in A4 or US Letter. Print at full size with no scaling, or “fit to page” on Letter.
Are these certificate templates free?
Yes. Download as many as you like as Word or PDF: no sign-up, no watermark.
Can I edit them in Word?
Yes. The design is the page’s background and every line of text is a text box you can retype, in the template’s own font (the fonts are inside the file). The logo, seal and signature are pictures you can delete or change.
Will they open in Google Docs?
They’re made for Microsoft Word. Google Docs can open a .docx but may move the text boxes and swap the fonts, so for Google Drive, customise the template in the maker and download a PDF.
