Not a lifetime deal

Why we built Knola. A letter.

In this letter: why starting a course usually costs about $200 a month before you’ve sold a thing. What we built instead: everything you need to build and sell it, for one payment. And two calculators that may make you slightly cross with your bank statement. Plus one honest warning: today’s price is the lowest it will ever be.

Dear person who knows something worth paying for,

Nobody should have to find $200 a month before they’ve sold a single thing.

So we built Knola. It builds your course, your narrated lessons, your sales page and your checkout, for one payment. There’s no monthly bill to keep it online. The only monthly plan, Knola Pro, is optional.

We’ve been building businesses for a long time. And we keep watching the same thing happen. Someone brilliant, someone who genuinely knows their stuff, sits down to turn it into a course. They open a pricing page. They do some maths. They quietly close the tab.

Not because they didn’t know enough. Because they didn’t have a spare $200 a month to test an idea that might not work.

So we did something about it. This letter explains what we did, why the price looks the way it does, and why it’s not the thing you’re probably thinking it is.

(It’s short-ish. There are calculators. You’ll like them.)

Who’s writing this

Hello. We’re David and Jamie.

Together we built and sold Viddyoze, and along the way helped 250,000 people make better video content. We’ve taken businesses from zero to millions, hired entire departments and managed teams of nearly 100.

So we know a thing or two about software that helps ordinary people make extraordinary things. Knola is the thing we wish we’d had at the start.

Part one

Here’s the bill for starting, the usual way.

To make a proper course today, you rent a course platform. Then you rent all the tools the platform doesn’t have. Every month. Whether anybody buys anything or not.

What “getting started” costs elsewhere

The cheapest plan on each platform that doesn’t take a cut of your sales, billed monthly. Before a single tool. Before a single sale.

Part two

How much would you spend before your first sale?

Pick where you’d start, and be honest about how long selling takes. Most people guess low. That’s fine. That’s why we built this.

Enclosure 1: the calculator
Where would you start?

Kajabi Basic: $179 a month, billed monthly. The cheapest plan without a cut of your sales.

You’d keep $1,243. That’s a new laptop, with change.

Part three

Here’s what one payment actually gets you.

Knola isn’t somewhere to upload videos and hope for the best. It builds the course for you. You bring what you know. It does the rest, from a rough idea to a course that takes payments on its own.

  • A course from your job, skill or hobbyType what you know. Knola drafts a sellable outline in seconds: modules, lessons and the order they go in.
  • Lessons written from anythingUpload video, PDFs, slides or notes. Get written lessons, summaries, transcripts, worksheets and checklists.
  • Slides, then a narrated videoA designed deck for every lesson with a script under each slide. Then Knola narrates it in an AI voice, or yours. No camera.
  • A sales page written from your courseThen designed and built for you, on your brand. Edit anything in a click.
  • Funnels and checkoutOrder bumps, upsells and downsells, copy included. One-off payments, payment plans or subscriptions.
  • More to sell from what you madeEbooks, checklists and lead magnets from your lessons. Sell them alone or add them to the course.

Now picture this.

It’s Saturday morning. You type in what you know. Maybe your job, maybe the thing friends always ask you about. By Sunday evening you’ve got a structured course, a narrated video for every lesson, a sales page you didn’t have to write and a checkout that works.

Then, some ordinary Tuesday, your phone buzzes.

That’s the moment we built Knola for. The first sale is always the hardest. We’d like to make it the cheapest, too.

Part four

Don’t take our word for it.

Here’s what people who’ve actually used Knola say.

I’d been sitting on my course idea for nearly two years, convinced I’d get around to it one day. I’d written a couple of books before but never sold an online course. I came across the Knola offer and my experience so far has been great. I wish I had found it sooner.
Richard A.Business owner
I asked a question expecting to wait days and got a real, helpful answer within the hour. You can tell Knola is built by people who actually want you to succeed, not just take your money.
Sophie RichardsPeaceLoveSerenity
When I have a question or need help figuring something out, I feel like there are real people who want to help, not just a support ticket system.
Lori KantorUniversal Educational Services
Knola removes the guesswork and fear, making course creation feel simple, achievable, and genuinely exciting. It doesn’t just show you what is possible. It makes you want to begin.
Joy Hauʻoli SutherlandCo-Founder, LVH Brands

Notice what they talk about? Not features. People. When we earn from your sales instead of your subscription, looking after you isn’t a cost to us. It’s the whole business.

Richard waited two years. You don’t have to.

Part five

How you pay.

One payment to start. Then you choose how you sell, and whether you want Pro.

  1. 1

    Start

    $197 or $97, once

Everything: the course builder, slides, narrated videos, sales page, funnel and checkout. One payment. No monthly bill while you find your feet.

  2. 2

    Grow

    0% or 7.5% of sales

Sell through your own checkout links and we take nothing. Use Knola’s checkout and we take 7.5% of each sale. No sales, no bill.

  3. 3

    Go Pro

    $37/month, optional

More room, white-label, 0% fees on our checkout, and new Pro features as we release them. Most creators on Knola add it. It’s always a choice, never a requirement.

Enclosure 3: Pro, on fees alone

$0Pro pays for itself ≈ $493$2,000

7.5% on our checkout

$23 /month

Knola Pro, 0% fees

$37 /month

On fees alone, the 7.5% costs $15 less than Pro. But Pro isn’t only about fees: it adds more room, white-label and new features as we release them.

Part six

“Couldn’t I just build it myself?”

You could. People do. Here’s roughly how that goes.

The weekend warrior

$300–600 a year

WordPress, a course plugin, hosting and a theme. Plus every Saturday you’ll spend updating plugins. No AI course builder, no slides, no sales page. Just you and a spinning wheel.

Hire a developer

$50,000–80,000

The typical cost of a basic custom course platform. That’s 253 to 406 Studio licences, or one very awkward chat with your bank manager.

Or

$197, once

Built, hosted, updated and improved every week by people who do nothing else. You just teach.

Part seven

“Isn’t this just another lifetime deal?”

Fair question. We’d ask it too. Here’s the honest answer.

Most lifetime deals work like this: a company takes one payment, then has to support you forever with no money coming in. You can guess how that ends. Usually with a blog post called “An update on our journey”.

Knola doesn’t work like that. The licence isn’t how we make our money. It’s how you get through the door. We make our money when you make sales. Which means we only stay in business if you’re in business. We like that arrangement. It keeps us honest.

One more thing, so nobody’s surprised later: the licence price will go up. As Knola grows and does more, new buyers will pay more for it. There’s no countdown timer, because there’s no deadline. It just won’t be this cheap again.

How Knola makes money

$197 or $97 once, today
That’s your licence. It gets you in, gets you set up, and gets you making money.
7.5% of a sale
Only if you use Knola’s checkout. Use your own checkout links and it’s 0%.
$37 a month, today
Knola Pro, if you want it: more room, white-label, 0% fees on our checkout, and new Pro features as we release them. Optional, never required.

Prices will change as we grow. The licence will cost new buyers more over time, Knola Pro may go up, and we may add a bigger plan above it. What won’t change is how it works: one payment to get in, a fee only if you use our checkout, and an optional monthly plan for people who want more.

If you buy now

Once you’re in, you’re in.

When the licence price goes up, it goes up for new buyers, not for you. You keep the licence you bought, at the price you paid. The price you see today is the best it will ever be, and the best deal anyone will ever get.

Why we bother

We want to help a million people sell what they know.

Teachers. Nurses. Plumbers. Accountants. The person down the road who can fix any bike ever made. Everybody knows something worth paying for. Most people never sell it, because starting costs too much and looks too hard.

We’re fixing both. The price is the first part.

1,000,000

The goal: first sales made on Knola

One payment. No monthly fee.

Choose your plan.

Pay once. It stays online, with no monthly fee to keep it there.

Today’s price is the lowest it will ever be. The licence will cost more as Knola grows, but once you’re in, you’re in.

I’ve tested many course platforms over the past few years and never found one that I liked. The ability to create different types of course materials with AI is what initially caught my attention with Knola. Since signing up, the whole platform has felt so good to use and I now have 3 courses fully online. Amazing.

P.S. Richard sat on his course idea for nearly two years. You don’t have to wait two years. You don’t even have to wait until Monday. You’ve got 30 days to change your mind.

P.P.S. Most creators on Knola also add Knola Pro, for more room, white-label, 0% fees on our checkout, and new Pro features as we release them. It’s optional, and you can add it any time.

P.P.P.S. Yes, the card processor still takes its slice. We looked into fixing that. We can’t. Nobody can. It’s the one thing in this letter that isn’t up to us.

Competitor prices are monthly-billed list prices for each platform’s cheapest plan without a platform transaction fee, as published in September 2026. Tool prices are typical monthly plans for AI voice, video editing and design. Prices change; check each provider before you decide.
