Faster video uploads: your file is sent once, not twice
Your browser used to send every uploaded video twice, once to the player and once to a backup copy nothing used. Now it goes once. The uploader also tells you when a file is much bigger than it needs to be for its length, so you can export a smaller one.
What’s changed
Before, every video went up twice, and the uploader knew only the file's size. Now it goes up once, and you see its length, resolution, speed and time left, plus a clear note if the file is heavier than it needs to be.

How it works
- Open an empty lesson, choose Upload a file and drop in your video.
- Watch the progress: size sent, upload speed and roughly how long is left.
- If the file is oversized, a note says what a smaller export would weigh.
- Keep working. The upload carries on while you move around your admin.
- When it says Preparing it to play on any device, you'll see a time estimate.
Good to know
- The size note never stops an upload. It only suggests a lighter export, usually 1080p at 8 Mbps.
- The largest file you can upload is 5 GB.
- Lesson videos need to be MP4, MOV or WebM.
- If preparing takes longer than expected, Knola keeps checking, and Check now looks again straight away.
