How to let Knola write your lesson from the video

Give a video lesson a written version for students who prefer reading. Knola writes it from your video, in your words, and you edit it.

Some students would rather read than watch, and a written lesson also makes the lesson searchable. If you uploaded a video, Knola can write the written lesson from what you said in it.

Find the Read section

Open the lesson with your video. Under The lesson, the Read section is the written lesson. While it is empty it says "For students who would rather read, and so every word is searchable."

Your video needs its transcript first, which happens on its own after upload. While it runs, a banner above the lesson reads "Transcribing your video." See How to get transcripts & captions on every video.

Let Knola write it from your video

Once the transcript is ready, the empty Read section offers Write it from your video · 1 credit. Click it and Knola writes the lesson from what you said, straight away.

Read the result and change anything that is not how you teach it. It is yours to edit like anything you typed. The Read section then says "Written by Knola from your video · edit it and it becomes yours", and the Students get row at the top shows Read with its word count.

Before the transcript is ready

Without a transcript, Write it with Knola · 1 credit writes from the course outline instead. It opens a box, What should this lesson cover?, which is optional, but one line makes a real difference: your method, your units, who it is for. The button then reads Write the lesson from this; with nothing typed it reads Write it from the course outline.

Go further with the same video

The Slides section, just above Read, offers Make slides with AI · 1 credit: Knola builds slides from what the lesson already says. From those slides you can make a narrated video too. The Studio can also turn the same lesson into a checklist, a mini-guide or an ebook: see Here's what the Studio makes.

Does Knola make things up?

It writes from your video and any sources you added, and keeps your terminology. It will phrase things its own way, so read it before you publish, as you would any first draft.

Will it overwrite what I already wrote?

No. Knola only offers to write it while the Read section is empty. History keeps every earlier version too.
